Extra-curricular

Sporting Schools is sometimes offered with new sport offerings in some terms. We are trialling a before school program 8am-9am with 4-5 sessions provided. Numbers are capped at 20 students.

*Southern Downs Sport provides a multiple of pathways to Darling Downs events. Parents are given advance notice of important dates to nominate their eligible child for Southern Downs trials throughout the year; a nomination fee is payable. (It is important to note that our small school provides supervision at the annual Southern Downs Athletics Carnival. All other trials require parental supervision and transport. In the case of Cross Country, students are invited to participate in before school training during Term 1 with Mr Gaffney. Times or training programs, provided to the school, may be sufficient for nomination).

*Interschool Sport occurs during Term 1 and Term 4. Sports available to play are softball, t-ball and cricket. First eligibility for an external sporting team is given to Year 5 and Year 6 students; some Year 4 students may be included to assist in making a team. Occasionally, small numbers of Year 3 students are added as reserves and for team preparation.  Lunchtime training sessions must be attended over a period of time.

* Broncos football and netball carnival (including soccer) takes place on a single Friday in Term 2. First eligibility for an external sporting team is given to Year 5 and Year 6 students; some Year 4 students may be included to assist in making a team. Occasionally, small numbers of Year 3 students are added as reserves and for team preparation. Lunchtime training sessions must be attended over a period of time.

* Athletics training begins in late Term 2 for our annual carnival in Term 3.    All students in Years 3-6 build their skills during weekly PE and Friday afternoon rotational groups. A whole of school carnival is held early in Term 3 with junior activities taking place while the older students compete in field events. Times and places from this carnival assist selection for Southern Downs events.

NOTE: 2019 dates are different to our normal years. Our carnival will be in Term 2 with Southern Downs Athletics also taking place in Term 2.

* Swimming lessons are available for all students as part of an annual 'Water Safety and Awareness' block at WIRAC. Daily small group lessons take place over a 9 day period; culminating in a small carnival. Times from this carnival assist selection for Southern Downs events.

* Instrumental Music Programs for Woodwind and Brass (Years 4-6) with Mr Keith Waples along with Strings (Years 3-6 with Mr Michael Spiller) are available on a weekly basis. Please contact the School Office for further information.

* Our School Choir/Singing Group enjoys participating in the annual combined Warwick State Schools choir evening to showcase their talents.
